Warehouse Fulfilment Manager

c£40k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Lancashire

Our client is a leading Ecommerce Distributor with big growth plans. We are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Warehouse and Logistics professional as they look to recruit an Operations Manager at their fulfilment centre in Burnley, Lancashire.

Reporting into the Operations Director, the role will work across warehouse, logistics, retail, facilities and business administration. It takes the day-to-day coordination and administration that currently lands on the directors, keeps agreed processes in use across the operation, and gives the existing managers and supervisors a practical point of support so that routine operational matters are resolved without reaching the Operations Director. This is a broad and hands-on role requiring someone comfortable moving between operational management, problem-solving, process improvement, facilities and administration.

A key objective is to reduce senior management involvement in routine operational matters and to make sure agreed processes are used consistently across the operation.

Key Accountabilities as Operations Manager:

Operational Management

  • Work closely with existing managers and supervisors to coordinate priorities, resources and activity.
  • Take ownership of operational issues, coordinating the appropriate people and ensuring actions are followed through.
  • Identify recurring operational problems and work with managers to address underlying causes.
  • Ensure operational risks, capacity constraints and resource requirements are identified and escalated early.

 Warehouse & Logistics

  • Work closely with Warehouse and Logistics management to support effective operational performance and facilitate improvements to efficiency, quality, reporting
  • Maintain visibility of staffing, capacity, dispatch performance, stock movements and operational priorities.
  • Support planning for peak periods, major campaigns and unusual operational requirements.
  • Help resolve cross-functional issues affecting warehouse and logistics performance.

Retail

  • Ensure appropriate processes, reporting and operational standards are maintained.

Process Improvement

  • Support the implementation of standard operating procedures across operational areas alongside new systems, tools and ways of working.
  • Identify areas where processes require improvement or clearer documentation.
  • Establish appropriate checks and follow-up to ensure changes are sustained.
  • Flag where agreed processes are not being followed and support the relevant manager with corrective action.

The Ideal Person for the Warehouse Fulfilment Manager role:

Candidates should ideally have experience within an operational environment such as ecommerce, fulfilment, logistics, warehousing, retail or a comparable fast-moving organisation.

Relevant experience is likely to include:

  • Operational management, supervisory or team leadership responsibility.
  • Working with managers, supervisors or team leaders.
  • Coordinating competing operational priorities and resources.
  • Implementing or improving operational processes.
  • Using operational data, KPIs and reporting to identify problems and improve performance.
  • Working across departments to resolve operational issues and implement change.
  • Some exposure to facilities, suppliers, contractors or business administration.

Previous experience at Operations Manager level would be advantageous but is not essential where a candidate can demonstrate the capability and potential to step up into the role.

Direct-to-consumer ecommerce, fulfilment, high-volume or seasonal operations and retail experience would all be beneficial.

This is a fantastic opportunity – we look forward to your application.
