After years of knocking gently on the door to this iconic, Global brand that is steeped in history, I was invited to their prestigious Head Office and European Distribution Centre in the East Midlands to meet with the European Head of HR.
Throughout the meeting and site tour I couldn’t help but be blown away by the sheer scale of this operation and indeed the welcome I received. How could people not want to work here!? The brief was simple enough, yet with a tricky twist! They required two Warehouse Supervisors on a rotating 5 from 7 shift, across earlies, days and nights. Nothing out of the ordinary there, however the twist was to come. This Global Giant wanted candidates who had BOTH E-Commerce (with re-working) experience AND Straight to Store Pick and Pack experience, ideally within an automated DC! Oh, and this will be a 6month contract. A challenge then, and one I was excited by, especially as the rewards for success were in the form of acceptance on to my Client’s PSL as the sole supplier for Operations.
I immediately set out working with my existing network of contacts for recommendations, contacted relevant candidates through our regularly managed database and sifted applications through online adverts on industry leading job boards. Following competency -based phone interviews, I presented my client a shortlist of 5 Candidates to interview from. They interviewed all 5, offering to 2 within the space of 10 days. I’m proud of the work here because we worked together as a partnership, the way recruitment should be, and I am looking forward to developing the relationship further over the years.
