Company:

Part of a vast international group manufacturing a unique product range for the industrial sector. The highly profitable plant runs 24/7 using 4 machines across 5 shifts & a head count of c100. They have adopted a manufacturing excellence focus & started their TPM journey a few years ago and driving the plant to the JIPM Certification level 1 will be a priority for the team by 2021.

Ideal candidate:

It is clear that a highly experienced Supply chain manager from a manufacturing operation who has covered end to end processes, ideally in a TPM driven operation is a minimum expectation. It is essential therefore that you will have a depth of knowledge across :

Production planning

Warehousing and shipping

Summary of the role:

The Supply Chain Leader provides functional leadership and support to the manufacturing plant. 

This role is responsible for creating best in class performance in the areas of production planning, supply management, warehousing, and shipping. This person will evaluate the effectiveness of all processes, programs, and procedures within supply chain and ensure the safety, quality, and productivity of these operations. The Supply Chain Leader is responsible for optimising inventory levels, improving the plant and business cost structure, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This person leads through standard work, visual tools and root cause problem solving. This position directly leads a team of Site Logistics & Planning and site management & indirectly the third-party warehouse.

Adheres to, and continuously improves, all plant and position-specific safety policies.Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is a first priority.

Directing Operations

Analyses marketing forecasts and customer orders to obtain an accurate assessment of product demandCoordinates plant production to service customer orders while minimising product changes; monitors finished goods inventory levels to ensure compliance with established minimum and maximum authorisationsCoordinates the scheduling of production trialsManages daily Warehouse and Shipping operations to ensure on-time and efficient delivery and customer satisfactionControls and maintains accurate records on all physical inventories; manages slow moving and obsolete inventories.Ensures the supply of all required materials in a cost effective and timely manner to meet production needs and customer expectations for qualityControls logistics cost for transportation and warehouse leasingProvides input on budget - labour, capital and facility improvementsProactively identifies improvement opportunities and implements solutions accordingly to drive operation excellence of the department, better meet the needs of relevant stakeholders as well as mitigate risks that may disrupt production and negatively impact product quality

Leading Production Planning

Creates planned orders based on demand to include STO’s, customer orders, etc.Aspen scheduler program userDrills down into individual line requirements based on product mix and machine capabilityConverts planned orders into production orders and ensures daily schedule attainmentLoads schedule work tables and displays a production scheduleGenerates necessary reports to identify exceptions to include Production Order CheckingDevelops monthly production schedules that are updated as needed based on product demandDevelops/Maintains systems to deal with exceptionsLeads weekly planning meeting with all departments

Supply Management

Builds and maintains strong relationships with all suppliers to ensure supply security, service quality, and optimisation of total costManages the procurement of products and servicesDevelops and implements measurement systems to monitor the effectiveness of inventory management processes for the overall accuracy of our processes

Warehouse/Transportation

Management of internal and external warehouses

Packaging calculation and design for new/current products

Leading and Developing Talent

Plans and organises the activities of the supply chain departmentEstablishes clear and measurable performance expectationsInvests in the growth and development of team membersEffectively staffs the department by leveraging the appropriate mix of internal and external talent
