Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Strive Supply chain have been exclusively retained to work with an international supplier of non-food FMCG items to the retail sector. Our role is to source a Technician with proven experience in working in automated operations & overseeing the site Mechanical, Electrical & facilities management.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will come from a warehouse, engineering, production or manufacturing operation.

The hours are 39 hours per week.  There is a split shift:

Monday to Thursday Rotating - 6am - 3pm and 9am - 6pm

Fridays rotating 6am - 2pm and 9am - 5pm

Note there will be late shift cover through peak hence the need for the call out availability as you would expect.

Role Summary:

  • Support the Facilities and Engineering Manager to ensure all building and equipment technical and maintenance requirements are managed, either directly or by suppliers, with particular focus on warehouse hardware and systems.
  • Ensure that the warehouse automated systems uptime is maximized by overseeing and assisting with planned maintenance, diagnostics and resolution of functional issues including repairs.
  • The role has technical/engineering as well as administrative focus requiring the development of a full understanding of all aspects of the warehouse systems. This includes hardware and software functionality, control systems (including WCS, WMS, Scada) and VNA interfaces, building management/HVAC systems, sprinkler/fire and alarm/access control, lighting and other mechanical/ electrical/MHE systems.
  • General facilities management and coordination responsibilities especially relating to the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment (but not IT hardware).
  • Work with KNAPP, shadow and learn from the assembly and commissioning engineers how the systems are assembled, configured, function, are controlled, are tracked and are performance managed.
  • Breakdown repair and coordination. Track and report repair times, root cause and where available, associated costs.
  • Requirement for out-of-hours working for site call-outs, emergency equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance requirements outside of operational hours.
  • Arrangements for preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment associated with the distribution of products in the warehouse.

Ideal candidate

  • Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
  • Apprentice trained to NVQ level 3 preferred but not essential
  • Practical mechanical/electrical experience
  • Ambition to learn and develop engineering skills
  • Inquisitive mind, capable of learning quickly
  • Organized and competent at record keeping and documentation
  • Experience and knowledge of H&S in a warehouse environment
