Import and Export Manager - £50k + excellent bens
Location : Central London
An internationally renowned non-food fmcg organisation experiencing continued international growth & profitability. Operating across retail, wholesale & online trading platforms they are now seeking an exceptional Import & export manager to manage their next phase of growth & of course to navigate around Brexit.
Candidate skill set required:
Equally proven in both import & export operations
Extensive knowledge of global import and export via road, air and sea.Experience managing a team of import/export co-ordinators.Knowledge of cross-border trade, duties, tariff regimes and customs clearance procedures.Experience in the preparation of certificates for export (Certificate of Origin, EUR1, BSC, ATR,…).Comfortable working across multiple and varied product types and customs jurisdictionsStrong IT and Excel skills. Will have worked in any fast-moving product environment such as retail, food, engineering or related.
A wide ranging brief awaits cover every aspect of this fast moving, every changing import & export operation.
Manage and guide the day-to-day activities of organising and delivering shipments from suppliers in a timely and cost-effective manner. Regularly report against the inbound pipeline of goodsHandle booking of transport and customs clearance for inbound and outbound shipments, including all necessary documentation.
Own the relationship with third party freight forwarders, establish SLAs and report and manage against themSeek cost-saving opportunities through process improvement, consolidation of inbound deliveries and through 3rd party negotiation/tenderProvide internal training and advice on best practice to support improvements in transit time or costKeeping up to date on changes to legislation regarding global cross border trade and adapt accordingly (e.g. Brexit)Maintain annual shipping & duty cost matrix by supplier and country – supports team ability to better calculate/improve margin rates and standard costs.
Consult with Merchandising throughout the planning cycle from forecast to delivery, seeking to find improvements in our supply chain from both financial and environmental points of view (e.g. freight consolidation, carbon footprint etc.)Identify business risks in terms of additional trade compliance regulations (e.g. timber regulations) and ensuring product owners are managing the additional requirementsEnsure necessary reporting is submitted to HMRC and other regulatory bodies to ensure correct payment of taxes, duties and reporting of data (e.g Intrastats)Work towards gaining Trusted Trader (AEO) status to streamline our inbound deliveries.Organise and improve workflow of shipment requests internal stakeholders
Provide analysis for supply chain “cost-to-serve” analysis as necessary
