Food Compliance Quality Manager

Our client is a multi-site specialist distributor of industrial related products that are used in a variety of applications. Due to further growth, they are looking for an exceptional, well qualified Quality / Compliance Manager with a proven knowledge of BRC, ISO 9001 and COMAH requirements, backed by a practical grasp of internal and external auditing procedures and protocols.
Summary:
As a member of the senior management team the successful candidate will lead and manage the compliance function. With a strong Quality focus and emphasis on managing all aspects of the customer queries and quality systems, ensuring site-wide compliance with related BRC as well as ISO 9001 standards.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the swift resolution of customer queries and complaints
• Review and improve the quality of working practices and processes on site and actively pursue any opportunities to improve
• Oversight of Health & Safety procedures
• Overview of site Work Instructions to ensure compliance to BSI and BRC requirements ensuring version and documents control processes are in place and managed as required
• Manage Internal/External Audits, specifically in respect of ISO ,BRC, FEMAS and RSPO accreditation ensuring site activities meet the requirements of the standards
• Leading and driving on-going continuous improvement activities across the department, with a view to reducing complaints, anticipating audits and maintaining zero accidents
• Assisting in the management and consistent attainment of ‘On Time and In Full’ performance targets
• Working closely with the operations team to ensure Training and Revalidations are up to date as mandated by BRC and ISO standards
• Maintaining BRC AA Food Safety Certification through active promotion and support of Food Safety and Quality Culture.
• Stand where relevant and act as final escalation point for the site on all compliance matters in the absence of the General Manager
• Undertake activities to ensure compliance in the absence the site Compliance Officer
• Controlling Customer Sampling Process
• Oversite of Internal Audit Schedule and corrective action to drive compliance to all required standards
• Control of the Monthly Food Hygiene reviews as per BRC standard.
• Control of site quarantine procedures to prevent intake or despatch of non conforming materials
• Timely completion of the requisite daily, weekly, monthly and annual mandatory reporting.
• Manage adherence to product Certificate of Approval process driving compliance on all inbound and outbound material
• Work with the Supply Chain team to deliver improved Supplier compliance
• Identify, define and drive Compliance initiatives/improvement plans with internal departments
• Liaise and meet with Head Office based compliance teams to ensure compliance with existing group policies and procedures
• Setting and regular reporting of performance matrices across a range of agreed KPI’s, taking remedial action where required, to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of best practice Compliance and Service Excellence.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills:
• Trained Auditor with history of practical application
• HACCP training or qualification.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power-point)
• Previous Experience of using a Transactional / ERP system beneficial
• First-hand experience in the investigation and resolving of customer complaints — including direct customer communication
• A working knowledge of ISO 9001, BRC and COMAH, backed by a practical grasp of internal and external auditing procedures and protocols
• Working knowledge of HACCP based risk assessments
