Our client is a leading FMCG Distributor and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Transport professional in a brand new Central Transport role, to be based at their flagship site in Heywood, Greater Manchester.
The role of Central Transport Control Manager is part of a highly dedicated and professional team, which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to our client’s customer base. The team is responsible for managing all aspects of the transport service, from order receipt and processing, through booking, planning and operational execution and administrative functions post-delivery.
Your experience (ideally within Transport Operations) will allow you to provide advice, guidance and support to the teams, promoting “best practice” in both an operational and commercial capacity.
Reporting into the Transport Director, you will be responsible for:
To provide direct assistance to the Transport Director, offering strategic and tactical insight and be able to step into the role in a supporting capacity as needed.To support Operational, Commercial & Customer Services team to deliver world class serviceTo provide support through a breadth of knowledge to peers within the central transport teams, and other departments and depots as appropriate.To work with the transport teams to identify areas of opportunity for enhanced optimisation, efficient running, reduction of empty mileage, increased load fill and utilisation of equipment.To review operation, drive change as necessary with provision of structured argument for any alterations within the Transport operation, backed by solid evidence gained from a wide spectrum of information.To help to compile and review periodic operational and financial KPI reports based on all relevant aspects of the transport operation and demonstrate the ability to analyse the data within and make logical proposals on the direction of the transport business with solid supporting evidence.To ensure standard operational processes are built, reviewed, and adhered to in full to deliver a standardised operation across all teams, building stability and best practice. To demonstrate understanding of the fleet, performance, application and identification of opportunity for delivering better value to the group.
The ideal Central Transport Control Manager Candidate:
Strong leader with proven understanding of Operational & Commercial value.Excellent and strong Transport background, ideally within a FMCG environment.Service driven, whilst maintaining a strong position supporting the Transport division.Tenacious, managing issues through to completion under own motivation for success.Strong understanding of market and sector position (suppliers/competitors).A logical and systematic approach to workload, ability to work to deadline and control expectation.Ability to produce detailed and timely reports on all aspects of operation.Possessing the ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions.IT literacy and the ability to handle and analyze data to aid delivery of value.The ability to manage change across a network environment.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people.A positive attitude to continued learning, personally and for team.
